Something that I have learned from my son’s public education is that every piece of writing needs a “hook”: something to entice the reader and make her want to keep reading. My hook for this blog is the cocktails. You know you want my recipes! Click on the menu above.

In her song, Winds of the Old Days, Joan Baez wrote “You’re a savage gift on a wayward bus”. Apparently Joan was writing about Bob Dylan – but I think this proclamation can be applied to life:
Savage gift: in life you will have joy, fun, love, art, music, amazing experiences – but you will also have pain and loss.
Wayward bus: in the big picture, there is randomness and unpredictability.
This blog is about traveling in the wayward bus and acknowledging the savage gifts.
