Feeling blue/down-in-the-dumps/ennui?
- Take a walk in nature
- Take a walk to somewhere where you can appreciate the view
- Put on some music and dance for 5-10 minutes
- Every day do something that you normally enjoy– whether you feel like it or not
- Make plans to do things with friends – and keep the plans
- Talk to people who have experienced something similar
- Read an engaging book
- Find things you can be grateful for and write them down at bedtime
If you experience these symptoms persistently for two weeks:
- Hopelessness, deep apathy, despair, feeling “empty”
- Low mood that interferes with daily activities
- Loss of interest or pleasure in activities you once enjoyed
- Feelings of worthlessness, or excessive or inappropriate guilt
- Difficulty thinking or concentrating
- Fatigue – difficulty sleeping or sleeping too much
- Recurrent thoughts of death or suicide
